Breaking: Suspended Lagos LG Chairman Writes Assembly, Seeks Lawmakers’ Forgiveness

  The Suspended chairman of the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, Jelili Sulaimon, has pleaded with the state Assembly men for forgiveness, nearly a month after he was axed for non-compliance, defiance and unyielding attitude to the legislative House. In a ‘Letter of Apology’ personally signed by the embattled chairman, addressed to Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and read on the floor of the House on Tuesday, Jelili agreed that his actions may have caused disrespect to the House. While expressing regret, he promised to henceforth show maximum respect to the House and work closely with the legislators. Lagos Assembly set to replace LCDAs with administrative areas

Lagos assembly considers bill to abolish LCDAs …gives governor power to suspend erring chairmen, vice chairmen The Lagos State House of Assembly is set to replace the existing 37 Local Council Development Areas in the state with Area Administrative Councils. The 37 LCDAs were created by President Bola Tinubu in 2003 when he was governor of Lagos State. Each Area Administrative Council shall now be funded by the Local Government Area under which it falls. This is contained in a Bill for a Law to provide for Local Government’s System, Establishment And Administration And to Consolidate All Laws On Local Government Administration And Connected Purposes, which went through a public hearing on Thursday. The bill specifies that the system of local governments will be controlled by democratic elections. In continuation of the appeal from the proactive and workaholic lawmaker representing Ifako Ijaiye Constituency 02, Hon Emmanuel Olotu, towards the National Protest, which was facilitated by unknown organizers, which it's stated to commence today, Thursday, 1st of August 2024.  Hon Olotu has continue to appeal to the youths and the constituents of Ifako Ijaiye Constituency 02 to shun the planned nationwide protest against hardship. In his quest to shun the protest, Hon Olotu held a meeting with the Good Boys on Friday, 26th, July 2024 in OJOKORO LCDA, which they all agreed not to join any protest organized by unknown person(s).   The Aliko Dangote Foundation has donated 80,000 bags of 10kg rice to support vulnerable communities in Lagos State. Emmanuel Olotu has sympathized with the victims over the fire incident that gutted the Awori Sawmill, Abule Egba, Lagos- Abeokuta Expressway in Lagos State on Sunday, 4th February, 2024 at about 3:45pm  In a statement by his Media Team, the Proactive Legislator said, he was shocked by the incident.
