Aliko Dangote Foundation donates bags of Rice To Vulnerable In Lagos State

The Aliko Dangote Foundation has donated 80,000 bags of 10kg rice to support vulnerable communities in Lagos State.

Dangote said the distribution of the bags of 10kg of rice was a demonstration of the Aliko Dangote Foundation’s (ADF) commitment to upholding the values of compassion and solidarity that are at the core of humanity.

_He said over one million 10kg bags of rice would be distributed to reach vulnerable people in all the 774 LGAs of the country._

Governor of Lagos state,  Babajide Sanwo-Olu, applauded the humanitarian initiatives of Dangote to ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians, while praising him for showing compassion to the needy in the society.

Sanwo-Olu said the gesture of distribution of 80,000 bags of 10kg rice shows that the leadership of the Foundation prioritize the welfare of the people beyond the pursuit of profit and accumulation of wealth.

The Member, representing Ifako Ijaiye Constituency 02 and also Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture, Hon. Emmanuel Olotu described Dangote as a “Nigerian that has chosen to be different”, adding that the gesture would help to alleviate the hardship of the economy on the poor in the state.

“You have choices, but you have made the right one which is caring for the vulnerable. I appreciate Mr. Aliko Dangote for extending his kind gestures to the people at the bottom of the pyramid and we are grateful for supporting us,” Olotu said.

However, the state government has rolled out different measures to cushion the impact of the fuel subsidy removal.

One of such initiatives is the ‘Ounje Eko’ food market where food items such as rice, beans, garri, bread, eggs, tomatoes and pepper, among others, are sold at 25% discount to residents every Sunday.

The rice distribution flag off took place at the Lagos House in Ikeja.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Founder and chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote; Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria Holdings Plc, Femi Otedola, Member, FKJ 02 and Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture, Hon. Emmanuel Olotu were present at the event.
