The Member representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 02 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Olotu, has reaffirmed that waste can be converted into electricity, noting that biogas derived from waste can be effectively used to generate light and power for communities. He emphasized that Lagos State is already making strategic efforts toward waste-to-energy development as part of its broader environmental sustainability agenda.



Hon. Olotu  who is also known as OXYGEN and KOSELERI of Ojokoro LCDA commended the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro LCDA, Barr. Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, for championing the impactful initiative in collaboration with the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Climate Change and Circular Economy, alongside the Centre for 21st Century Issues, under the theme “ECO CIRCULATE: Turning Waste to Value, Community by Community.”



He further highlighted the concept of transforming Waste to Wealth, encouraging residents to embrace responsible waste management practices that can create economic opportunities while protecting the environment. Hon. Olotu also stressed the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment, especially during the rainy season, to prevent flooding and avoid potential epidemics caused by poor sanitation.



In his remarks, Hon. Olotu applauded Barr. Adenike Rosiji for positioning Ojokoro LCDA as the first local government area in Lagos State to initiate the Waste-to-Wealth programme, describing the move as visionary, community-driven, and a model for other councils across the state.
