The 6ft 6in London ace snatched back the unified belts from his conquer Andy Ruiz Jr in the brand new Diriyah Arena with a unanimous verdict on the cards. By the 12-round mark a frustrated Ruiz pleaded with Joshua to throw caution to the wind – but the Brit was too cleaver and disciplined as he rode out the final three minutes. After the unanimous decision was announced, confetti reigned down and emotional celebrations with Joshua's team, family and promoter followed.

Joshua: "I wanted to put on a boxing masterclass."

"First of all, thanks to God. The first time was so nice, I had to do it twice," he said.

"I knew I could win this. This is about boxing, I’m used to knocking guys out.

"I gave the man his credit, I said I would correct myself, I respect Andy, But I wanted to put on a boxing masterclass.

"It’s the sweet science, it’s about hitting and not getting hit.

"No change in mentalist, stay hungry and stay humble. I’m going to remain humble in victory. Thanks to Ruiz and his family, thanks to Saudi, the fans and thanks to god and Eddie Hearn."

Here is the timeline of how Anthony Joshua beats Andy Ruiz Jr unanimous decision 119-109, 118-110, 118-110.

Round 12: Some tremendous boxing to finish the fight from Anthony Joshua. He delivered some big right hands for good measure. And it looks like we have a new world titleholder. Andy Ruiz came and tried with his relentless pressure. But KING AJ is the Winner!!!

Round 11: Another good round for Anthony Joshua. Andy Ruiz needed the knockout as we entered this round. At this 11th round, we had a two-time world heavyweight champion on our hands. Ruiz was, as always, dangerous.

Round 10: Andy Ruiz took some jabs from Anthony Joshua, who showed discipline all night long. He did this against Joseph Parker, and was able to do it to Ruiz. Joshua was very light on his feet as well. Those 4.5kg lost eh issa joker!

Round 9: Better round for Anthony Joshua. The world champion was gaining confidence but Andy Ruiz remained a serious threat. He kept coming forward and AJ was finding it hard to clinch. Ruiz was slipping out every time.

Round 8: The pressing was still coming from Andy Ruiz, who was getting more and more frustrated. AJ looked a little miffed with an illegal blow and then engaged in a fire-fest with Ruiz, who windmilled and hit Joshua on the back of the head. Ruiz's best round.

Round 7: Anthony Joshua delivered some hard shots but refused to engage in any fire fights. Ruiz was getting frustrated in there, but Joshua was focused on seeing the end of the fight.

Round 6: More nice rhythmic boxing from Anthony Joshua, Andy Ruiz tried working at the same pace but he took a short left hook but nods back at AJ. Another round for the former champion, who took a couple low shots at the end of the round.

Round 5: AJ kept things long and landed some stiff jabs, he then did the same with his right hand and won another round. He boxed brilliantly and that was a slower round for Ruiz.

Round 4: More calmness from AJ, but the pressure was coming from Ruiz, who look unfazed by anything that came his way - Ruiz landed a nice shot at the end of the round.

Round 3: Relaxed round three from AJ, but Ruiz was pushing the action. Joshua kept is calm waiting for the right time to deliver the big shot. Ruiz didn’t look phased, but Joshua was calm.

Round 2: AJ learned from the first fight not to rush in. And tonight he look good in the second round too. Good work from Joshua, who felt more comfortable that he cut his Mexican rival. But AJ got cut this time after a clash of heads!

Round 1: Cagey round to start. Joshua used his jab nicely but it was Ruiz who pressed, much like late on in the first fight. Good boxing from AJ though. Ruiz got a cut at the end of the round! Great right hand from AJ!
