BREAKING: Atiku loses at Supreme Court

The Supreme  Court has dismissed the appeals filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari at the February 23 poll. The seven-man panel of the apex court led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Mohammed said the panel agreed that there is no merit in the appeal.  The Appeal was hereby dismissed. The CJN added that the panel has been reviewing the case for the past two weeks. He said that reasons for the dismissal of the appeals to be given in a later date. Atiku and his party were challenging the September 11 judgment of the Justice Mohammed Garba-led Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal which affirmed President Buhari’s victory at the polls.  Details soon.

Ambode heads for court to stop Assembly probe

Immediate-past Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has asked the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja to stop the state House of Assembly from probing him over the 820 mass transit buses purchased by his administration. The Lagos lawmakers had accused Ambode of purchasing the 820 buses in breach of budgetary provisions. They issued a summons for the ex-governor to appear on Wednesday (today) before an ad hoc committee set up to probe the purchase of the buses. The Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, threatened that the House would issue a warrant for Ambode’s arrest should he continue to shun invitation by the lawmakers. But on Tuesday, Ambode, through his lawyer, Mr Tayo Oyetibo (SAN), went before Justice Y.A. Akinsanya with an ex parte application, seeking an interim order of injunction against the lawmakers. CAFI MONTHLY GENERAL MEETING

On Tuesday, 29th of October 2019, Change Agent Foundation International (CAFI) held her monthly meeting at the CAFI Secretariat, City Star, Amje, Alakuko Lagos. The meeting was attended by mammoth CAFI members throughout Lagos State, Kwara, Osun, Ogun and other State in Nigeria. The Director of Mobilisation, Hon. Akinoso Olusegun Olawaye welcome all the members of CAFI that graced the monthly general meeting. He buttressed that, CAFI has spread it's tentacles throughout Nigeria, and we are embracing new members who are willing and ready to follow the rules and regulations of the group. Only those doing well should be called ‘Excellency’ – Sanwo-Olu

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State says the appellation, ‘Excellency’, should only be used for executive officers who have performed well. Sanwo-Olu said he was working on an executive order to ensure that a person will be referred to as ‘Excellency’ only after doing well. The governor said this while addressing a congregation at the King’s Court Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos, on Sunday. The church is headed by Pastor Ben Akabueze, who is also the Director-General of the Budget office and former commissioner to ex-govs Bola Tinubu and Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State.
